Technology

Our project concept enables the decentralized provision of a modern and innovative drinking water disinfection technology to disadvantaged indigenous populations in Central India. By this the project contributes to a technology transfer to developing countries, which is intended from climate protection projects.
 

The innovation of the implemented technology lies in the combination of the advantages of the common single oxidant drinking water disinfection methods in one process: through an advanced form of membrane electrolysis and in an electrochemical process, five oxidants are produced from a saline solution - in one liquid.


The technology is market-proven and already deployed in 32 countries. Users include public water utilities, hospitals, hotels, food producers and industrial customers, as well as major corporations such as Airbus and Boeing.
 

The "Engineered in Germany" process is suitable for replacing the predominant use of simple chlorine for drinking water disinfection worldwide.

Innovative REDO Technology combines the common drinking water disinfection methods (chlorine dioxide, chlorine, ozone, hydrogen peroxide and oxygen) in one liquid and one solution.

The mix of 5 disinfectants (oxidants) enables a highly efficient disinfection within short contact time and a long depot effect.It comprises the advantages and the disinfection power of the worldwide used and available single oxidant drinking water disinfection methods in one production process.

The disinfection liquid can be produced, filled, transported and dosed easily, without danger potentials.

REDO Drinking Water Disinfection Technology, which is implemented in our project, is an advanced and modern German technology, securing microbial drinking water safety according to high German Drinking Water Standards.

Innovative REDO Technology combines the common drinking water disinfection methods (chlorine dioxide, chlorine, ozone, hydrogen peroxide and oxygen) in one liquid and one solution.

REDO disinfected water does not taste or smell like chlorine and by this increases acceptance and usage in the population significantly.

It fulfils Indian Drinking Water Standard IS 10500 as well as German Standards.

The Indian Ministry of Water (Jal Shakti) has recommended REDO Technology as an innovative technology, especially for rural areas (“Jal Jevan Mission”), after an examination through its Technical Committee, chaired by the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India.

In 2004 REDO Technology received the Innovation Award of the German Government for an outstanding innovative product.

Until today REDO Technology is deployed in 32 counties worldwide, in application areas ranging from large drinking water treatment plants in public water supply with a capacity of more than 1000 MLD (pics on the left), over industry clients from the airline, shipping and food processing industry, to hospitals, hotels, agriculture, swim arenas and disaster relief.

The two world leaders in aircraft manufacturing, Airbus and Boeing, rely on REDO Water Disinfection Technology at their production sites in Europe, China and the US.

Mobile REDO Units for disaster relief (floodings, storms, earthquakes), rural areas, military applications, refugee camps and industrial emergency cases have a robust and sturdy design, functioning for the production of drinking water in difficult environment conditions like disaster and crisis zones or other isolated areas.

In our project containerized REDO Production Plants are set up in India.

These plants produce the drinking water disinfectant locally, which is than supplied - filled in canisters - to the households of the tribal villages.

Efficacy Of The Technology

State certified NABL lab - testing series on the efficacy of REDO Drinking Water Disinfection against main indicator germs and pathogens for waterborne diseases.
(Ecoli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, Enterococci and Coliform)

The lab results show a high disinfection efficacy of REDO Disinfection within an exceptional short contact time of 30 seconds.
