Through these dynamic alliances, we synergize efforts, expertise, and resources to address the multifaceted challenges faced by communities in Melghat. By harnessing the collective strength of our partners, we strive to create lasting positive change and empower communities to thrive sustainability.

MAHAN Trust - Mahatma Gandhi Tribal Hospital

MAHAN Trust is a Charitable Trust and Tribal Hospital in Melghat, providing preventive and curative medical facilities for the tribal community. MAHAN also runs various initiatives to improve the quality of life of the tribal people. MAHAN runs an an own network of Health Care Workers in many villages.

The story of MAHAN Trust is impressing: Dr. Ashish Satav and his wife Dr. Kavita started the NGO MAHAN in 1997. MAHAN is the only NGO in the Melghat region providing medical care and health services to the tribal communities. MAHAN Trust's philosophy is to serve the last tribal of Melghat with complete dedication. More details can be found under: www.mahantrust.org

Together with MAHAN Trust we made the Baseline Study, held the Stakeholder Meeting and conducted a water testing series in Melghat.

The highly competent network of MAHAN Health Care Workers in many Melghat villages supports us during distribution of the disinfectant and for our awareness campaigns.

Cooperation with NGO “SPS”

As our project expands and we aim to reach further tribal village clusters, we started a cooperation with the NGO Samaj Pragati Sahayog (“SPS”).

Over the last three decades, Samaj Pragati Sahayog (SPS) has grown to be one of India’s largest grass-roots initiatives for water and livelihood security, working with its partners on a million acres of land across 72 of India’s most backward districts, mainly in the central Indian Tribal belt.

Day-to-day responsibility rests with the 25-member Core Team of experienced professionals who work full-time at headquarters, leading the team of 225 SPS activists.

Cooperation with Gram Panchayats in the Villages

The Gram Panchayats of the tribal villages are a main stakeholder in our project.

We involve them in the project and remain in steady communication with them.

Cooperation with the Indian ASHA Worker Network

One of the key components of the Indian Rural Health System is to provide every village in the country with a trained female community health activist, called ASHA or "Accredited Social Health Activist".

Selected from the village itself and accountable to it, an ASHA gets trained to work as an interface between the community and the public health system. Due to their training and knowledge, a cooperation with ASHA Workers in the villages is very helpful for us.

Cooperation with the Tribal Development Authority of Maharashtra

The “Tribal Development Authority of Maharasthra” is another main stakeholder in our project.

It is present with an office in Dharni / Melghat. We keep the local IAS officer informed and updated on our project.

This video explains the health effects of drinking water disinfection in local Korku language and and shows the manual dosing of the disinfectant. This explanatory video was made in cooperation with our partner MAHAN Trust (Mahatma Gandhi Tribal Hospital) and with a local teacher from Melghat (speaking woman).
