Our Story
The team of SWI India is dedicated to addressing the pressing challenges of water insecurity and public health in communities of the Tribal Belt in Central India. With a focus on sustainable solutions, our organization is committed to providing access to safe and clean water through an innovative water disinfection technology, thereby contributing to climate protection by avoiding the need of firing wood for boiling water.
Founded with a mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing waterborne diseases and inadequate sanitation, SWI India combines expertise in water with a passion for community empowerment. Through collaborative partnerships we strive to improve the quality of life for individuals and families, particularly in underserved regions where access to safe water is limited.
Meet the team and join us in our journey to create a healthier, more resilient future through safe water access for all, while also contributing to climate protection.

Development of the Concept

The concept for this project has been developed from the German water project developer “INWASOL Intelligent Water Solutions” www.inwasol.com with the friendly support of Water Experts from “Indo German Alliance for Water Efficiency – IGAWE”.
Different rural area water concepts were evaluated and analyzed.
Also a benchmarking towards other existing projects was made.
The key objectives and challenges in the development of this project concept were:
-
Functioning drinking water disinfection in indigenous villages without central water infrastructure and with different communal water sources (hand pumps, wells, rivers); this requires so-called “decentralized solutions”.
-
Calculation and comparison of investment and O&M costs of different concepts for a project duration of up to 15 years; as well as operation and maintenance challenges for technologies used in indigenous villages without own technical competence.
-
Enabling a fast and easy upscaling.
-
Cost optimization through efficiency measures and process optimization.
-
Complete cost coverage of the climate protection component and the water project through certificates for emission reductions.
-
Identification of the suitable project location with scaling potential (baseline scenario).
-
Testing of concepts and relevant parameters under the water methodology of Gold Standard as certification body.
